2019 has not been kind to Campus Den. We've closed a few stores and our teams didn't fare so well, but we worked hard just the same.
The very first thing we did in 2019 was redemption of Den Dollars. This was the start of a stellar year for customer savings. Den Dollars are currently coming into a redemption period again. So, if you were able to get Den Dollars during the 2019 Holiday season, it's almost time to turn them in and save.
February was full of basketball love. The Spartans and the Wolverines had stellar seasons and kept us cheering all season long. February was the culmination of the regular basketball season, which of course lead us into madness.
Madness is the best way to describe March at Campus Den. Michigan State Basketball took the Big 10 Tournament and went on to reach the NCAA Final Four. Thanks to the Spartans, March was a busy and memorable month for Campus Den.
After March, we had to slow it down in April and recoup our energy. April wasn't filled with tons of frills or any fools, but it was just what we needed to move forward into the rest of the year.
May - August
We had a rough year overall, but May would redefine us as an organization. We filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after a massive decline in sales. We restructured our company throughout June and July. Campus Den reduced the number of stores we had operating and the number of employees. August was a turning point for us though, as we prepared for our first smaller back-to-school season.
We were busy with the Back-to-School season in September. It was a fairly tame month compared to a few others, but overall September was a beautiful start to fall and the football season.
In October, Grand Valley beat Saginaw Valley on the field but SVSU raised over $20,000 in the final Battle of the Valleys fundraiser. Western Michigan also took home the Victory Cannon over Central Michigan. October was a battleground month and Campus Den loved living every minute of it.
Of course, November is always known as prep month around Campus Den. We are prepping for the holiday season, prepping for the biggest game on the Michigan/Michigan State football schedules, and prepping for Thanksgiving. November leaves a little time for us time to thank you and to get ready for the final push each year. We are so thankful for all our loyal customers each and every day.
By December, 2019 was nearly over, but we had so much to look forward to before we waved goodbye to 2019. Michigan State Spartans beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the Pinstripe Bowl. Western Michigan was in the First Responders Bowl vs. Western Kentucky. And, last but not least, Central Michigan took on the San Diego State Aztecs in the New Mexico Bowl. December has been another up and down month for Campus Den and our favorite teams, but we made it through 2019 and we are roaring into 2020.
Happy New Year from Campus Den!
